There are always highlights in any industry. For all of us in the music business, one of them is when we hear one of our artists for the first time out in public. In the past that has primarily been because one’s heard it playing on the radio. Although nobody is denying radio is still the number one medium for music discovery, in-store play is starting to make its mark as well.
Imagine my excitement when last Thursday while out running errands I heard not just one but TWO WISM clients at separate times. I ran in to STAPLES to get ink for my printer and while in there, I heard “Vintage” from High Dive Heart who are currently getting between 150,000 and 180,000 impressions per week in stores and restaurants across the country. On my way home I stopped in to Subway to grab some lunch and while waiting for my sandwich, it happened again. I heard Isac Elliot “ No One Else” who is currently getting between 48,000 and 60,000 impressions a week. It absolutely made my day. That was just in Los Angles folks. Our retail radio partners have more than 27,500 stores they provide music for across the US.
