Congrats on the release of your debut album “On My Way.” What was the inspiration behind this project?
My love for music and my experiences in life inspired me to write my album.
Who are your musical influences?
There are so many different genres that I grew up with from my grandparents with jazz and swing music to the heavy metal my college roommate/friend would play in the car. Because of that I would tell people who ask me this question, “Whatever I like, I like whatever I dislike I dislike” but I know that’s not a fair answer. So to name a few I will say: Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Aretha Franklin, Carole King, Spice Girls, The Fray, Pink, and Bruno Mars.
Who are your mentors and what valuable lessons have you learned from them?
My parents taught me to always try my hardest in my school and if that really tough class was a C then at least I worked hard and did my best. Trust me they would know if I was slacking off. My other mentors like Ron Alexenburg, Rich Matthews, and Roberta Duchak have taught me practice does not make you perfect it only makes you better and no matter what keep pushing forward.
What are you looking forward to most in 2018?
I’m really excited to begin sharing and performing my music for everyone. I have a really cool lyric video being released soon for my song “Come Back Down.” I have awesome people around me and we are working feverishly to bring so many cool ideas we have to fruition. So, you’ll just have to stay tuned! OH! Also, my friend’s wedding is this summer and I can’t wait to celebrate her big day.
Favorite Chicago eatery?
That’s a tough one. My friends and I love going to Mayan Palace, a Mexican restaurant with some delicious margaritas, but also, you can’t go wrong with some Lou Malantis pizza.
Finally, a shameless plug: What would you like our readers to know about you?
You. Guys. I am so clumsy, it’s not even funny. The only thing I can do is laugh at myself every time I trip, fall, or knock something over. So, I do a lot of laughing. Like a lot.
