I wrote "Stick It Out" just after making the decision to take a gap year before starting college. It's about facing the uncertainty of the future but resolving to somehow get through it. Musically, the arrangement is informed by the power pop and new wave music I love - the drum patterns of The Knack, the combo organ of Elvis Costello & The Attractions, and the lead synth of The Cars.
