RIP Stu Cohen
This year continues to take away beloved industry icons: we lost Stu Cohen this week. Stu was a major force in the industry, best known for his years running Warner Brothers promotion. I was a friendly competitor to Stu during my radio promotion days and was always so impressed by the job he did. They had superstar artists and he made sure to maximize those projects but could also take a brand new act and guide his team to breaking those time and time again. Stu's music industry success is well known, but he also is loved as "one of the good guys", always there to help out someone in need. I was blessed to be a good friend to Stu and we spent much time together in the post-label years helping each other with various projects we were working on. Stu moved back east several years ago to be close to his daughter Liz and the light of his life, his grandson Leo. You could see the joy in every post he did with him. I am so glad that he made sure to be a part of their lives the past few years…memories for Leo to cherish later in life. I want to also send my love to Vera…even though they were not together…their bond and care for each other never went away. All of us who knew Stu will miss this engaging soul. RIP Stu.
